Welcome to Family Links in Surrey
Surrey Nurturing Links, in partnership with the national Family Links organisation, is pleased to be able to offer the Family Links programme throughout Surrey.
The Family Links project in Surrey trains staff to deliver the Nurturing Programme which is designed to promote loving, kind relationships within families, schools, communities and prisons. The Nurturing Programme focuses on the adult as well as the child. It invites parents, carers and school staff to give time to their own needs and reflect on their own childhood and parenting ideas.
Training is available for those working with families and/or children in Children’s Centres, schools, early years education and childcare settings.
On average, 8 out of 10 parents who take part in a Family Links course report significant improvements in their children’s behaviour and family life. Research shows improvements in parental mental health, and increased self-efficacy in emotion and affection, empathy and understanding, and discipline and boundary setting.
In 2014, the 10-week Parenting Puzzle groups and 8-week Welcome to the World groups were both been awarded CANparent quality marks. CANparent is a government initiative aiming to enable every parent to feel comfortable seeking and accessing parenting support.
Family Links is also a Centre for Social Justice national award winner, Children and Young People Now finalist 2015 and Highly Commended for improving children’s life chances nationally and locally in 2013.
